We as a group, respect, love, and cherish the sacrifices of all priests, bishops, archbishops, cardinals, and our beloved Pope of our Catholic Church, for they are Christ personified and will be treated as such.  As the laity of the Church, we are called to help, support, and inform these Shepherds of Christ’s flock, not to attack them.   We as an organization will always be obedient and respectful to the authority of our church (Canon Law #212 ), (Catechism of the Catholic Church #875) and (CCC #907 ).  Remember, without the priest, there would be no Mass, no Sacraments (CCC #1369) and (CCC #1375). As Saint John Neumann is quoted in saying, “Everyone who breathes, high and low, educated and ignorant, young and old, man and woman, has a mission, has a work.”  Our “work” with “Parents for Life” is to reveal how the beautiful teachings are in morals and ethics of the Catholic Church are compromised when the Church partners with and gives credence to an organization that practices and teaches philosophies that are contrary and contradictory to our Catholic Faith  (CCC #907).

Abortion is an intrinsic evil; it is a grave injustice that must be condemned and abolished (CL  #1398) and (CCC #2272).  Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of abortions in this country.  If we knowingly contribute (through membership dues or other GS funds) to a group that partners with Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion advocacy groups, aren’t we complicit in the sin of abortion?  OR … at the very least, aren’t we in some way giving our approval?  This means families who are involved with the Girl Scouts are not abiding in our “noble mission of safeguarding life” (CCC #2271 ).  We understand the positive memories of Girl Scouts past and its impact on girls’ lives.  In recent history however, the Girl Scout philosophies have changed dramatically … we’re not talking about a minor teaching of our Church.  It’s ABORTION!!   We are talking about the sanctity of human life, a foundational teaching of the Catholic Church.  GSUSA and WAGGGS have a long standing relationship with Planned Parenthood and International Planned Parenthood Federation.  These organizations promote and advocate abortion and other philosophies that are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church.  In other words: by your daughter being a member of Girl Scouts you and your family are supporting GSUSA and WAGGGS’ partners like Planned Parenthood and therefore supporting abortion.  Catholics need to give this serious thought.  It is not just a simple matter of keeping certain materials (books, pamphlets etc. …) out of your troop, it is about doing the right thing before God and teaching your family to do the same, no matter what the cost, how difficult or how inconvenient it may be.    

“If we love God, we love the people God has created and redeemed.  To stand with God is to stand with life and therefore to stand against whatever destroys life.  Catholics, and all people by their common humanity, are called to be concerned about abortion.  Ultimately, when Christian believers become active in a cause supporting life and justice, they are not simply responding to the cause as such but to Jesus Christ.”

“Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim.  Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.  A doctor from NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) said that ‘we would have never gotten away with what we did if you (the Church) had been united, purposeful and strong.'  The abortion tragedy kills our youngest brothers and sisters in numbers larger than any disease, disaster, or war combined for one year in the U.S.  In 2002, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a research division of Planned Parenthood, reported 1.29 million abortions.”  Father Frank Pavone is the spiritual director of Priests for Life. 

At times it may be difficult for us to decipher what is truly evil.  Life can be confusing, and the temptation to compromise with evil can be great.  The devil is the greatest of all deceivers.  He lies and makes evil appear good or attractive (CCC #392) and (CCC #2847 ).  “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.  So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.” (2 Corinthians 11: 14-15). 

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good people do nothing … what are you going to do?

"If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones...it would be better if a great millstone were fastened around your neck and you were drowned in the depth of the sea." (Matthew 18:6-7).
