Girl Scout Resources
We have posted a substantial amount of
evidence documenting the Girl Scouts’ pro-choice advocacy
within GSUSA’s own websites, and the literature they market
to our Catholic youth. We fervently appeal to you to
research not only the websites that GSUSA encourage our
800,000 Catholic Girl Scout members to patronage but to also
scrutinize the individuals GSUSA feature in the Girl Scout
books as women to emulate. Please be aware that there are
many Girl Scouts books that still have yet to be addressed
as problematic by GSUSA. These books have not been recalled
and Catholic girls continue to read them without any
warnings from GSUSA or the NFCYM. Many of these books
include recommendations to websites where our Catholic girls
can access links to Planned Parenthood or other pro-abortion
advocacy groups. Some of these GS books also list known
pro-abortion women advocates as inspiration for our Catholic
Girl Scouts. Please click here
at this link to view an updated report on the
problematic GSUSA curricula (This resource is work in a
progress that is continually being updated).

1) MISSION SISTERHOOD (for 9th and 10th graders) is one of the recently released books from the Girl Scout curriculum called “Journeys.” This book promotes Nancy G. Brinker, sister of Susan G. Komen, the founder of Komen for the Cure (on page 63). Brinker served on the Advisory Board of Planned Parenthood in Dallas, Texas in 2003. Planned Parenthood receives about ½ million dollars in donations from Susan G. Komen affiliates. On page 65, Gloria Steinam is presented as “a woman that has made a difference for sisterhood to where it is today.” Steinam is a well known pro-abortion activist and the co-founder of The Women's Media Center. This pro-abortion site also has 27 live links to other pro-choice sites. On page 53 and 69, GSUSA promotes WAGGGS and encourages girls to visit www.wagggs.org/en/world . WAGGGS promotes and advocates a campaign for “sexual and reproductive health services,” including “emergency contraception in order to avoid unintended pregnancies” and "accessible, affordable … abortions” as stated on their website.
2) GIRLtopia is one of the books in the new Girl Scout curriculum called “Journeys.” This particular Journey book lists many women that the girls can use as role models to emulate including (on page 10) Sheri S. Tepper, Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood (over 25 years) and praised feminist author. Please see this article written by Sue Brinkman from EWTN’s women of grace.com: Feminist Porn Found on Girl Scouts Recommended Reading List
3)
Your Voice Your World: The Power of Advocacy
is one of the
books in the new Girl Scout curriculum called “Journeys.”
Girls are encouraged to discover “Voices for Good.”
Some of the “Voices” listed are known female pro-abortion
advocates including (on page 68) Betty Friedan, the founder
of the National
Abortion Rights Action League, whom is listed as a woman
for Girl Scouts to emulate. The NARAL website can be found
at
www.naral.org.
On page 28,
Margaret Mead is quoted; she was an early advocate of
repealing anti-abortion laws.
4) MEdia (for 6th through 8th graders) is one of the recently released books from the Girl Scout curriculum called “Journeys.”. This book (on page 25) encourages girls to “take the matter in your own hands and learn the truth.” The Media Matters website for America “gets the word out about media misinformation.” At that site girls can access the Political Correction website. In February, 2011 this site along with 26 other pro-choice organizations wrote a letter to Congress defending Planned Parenthood. Carol Jenkins is praised (on page 71), as a founding president of The Women's Media Center. As stated in this GS book, WMC “strives to make women visible and powerful in the media. This group was founded in 2005 by Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem and Robin Morgan." This pro-abortion site has 27 live links to other pro-choice sites.
5) Bliss is one of the books from the Girl Scout curriculum called “Journeys.” This book (on page 25) encourages girls to visit and explore The Women's Media Center. As stated in this book exactly, “For a look at how double standards-and sexism-affected the 2008 presidential election coverage in the United States, check out “Sexism Sells-But We’re Not Buying It,” a video produced by the Women’s Media Center. This pro-abortion site has 27 live links to other pro-choice sites including Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL)
6)
aMAZE is one of the books from the Girl Scout
curriculum called “Journeys.”
This book (on page 53) praises WAGGGS.
WAGGGS
promotes and advocates a campaign for
“sexual and
reproductive health services,” including
“emergency
contraception in order to avoid unintended pregnancies”
and
accessible, affordable … abortions”
as stated on the
WAGGS
website.
On page
74, girls are made aware of Harriet Woods who is a
pro–abortion activist. 7) A Resource Book for Senior Girl Scouts is for girls 14 to 17 years old. On page 18 & 19 it states, "The situations below are ones that you may encounter either now or in the future." Last on the list is "Ending a pregnancy." The Catholic Church (the Body of Christ) teaches that ending a pregnancy is not an option or a choice to decide.
8) Uniquely Me! The Way to Be is for girls 8 to 10 years old. On page 22 there is a list of websites that the girls are encouraged to visit and explore. One website listed is KidsHealth, where young girls can find a link to emergency contraception Continue down to the bottom of page 3 under the heading “How Much Does It Cost?” where it states “the emergency contraception pill costs between $10 and $80. Many ... and family planning clinics (such as Planned Parenthood) may charge much less.” It is astonishing to see that this website has the audacity to advertise for this abortion mill. At the bottom of any of these pages is the heading Additional Resources. This Resources page lists 3 live links for children to visit: Planned Parenthood Federation of America has information on relationships and sexual health for teens, National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, and Planned Parenthood. All Girl Scouts are potentially future customers of Planned Parenthood …the seed is planted through this website. |
9) Focus: Uniquely Me! The Real Deal is for girls ages 11-17 (part of the STUDIO 2B program). On page 27 there is a list of websites that the girls may visit and explore. The following are
segments from the
play that
ridicules our Holy Catholic Church: GIRL 3 begins to touch herself in
intimate ways PRIEST. Dearly beloved, we are gathered
here, under the Catholic church JOSE takes out a golden dog collar. The
PRIEST gives it his blessings.
By the power vested in me, under the Catholic church,
in the holy house of God, I pronounce you man and The THREE GIRLS take away MARIA's veil
and bouquet. They place the dog collar around MARIA's neck.
Then they get the wedding lasso and tie it around her to
make the collar seem and work like a leash. PRIEST speaks to JOSE. You may pet the
bride. The lasso is given to JOSE. He pulls MARIA, who gets
on her hands and knees. They walk down the aisle like dog
and master. The wedding march plays, people begin to leave. JOSE. Another daughter?!
I'll have to call her
"Abnegation." SALESMAN. Here we have it! The world
renowned Reproducing machine! (MARIA screams again.)
JOSE. Three girls?! I'll call them "Frustration," "Regret," and "Disappointment."
All local Girl Scout council stores in the USA
